HB 241 POST-EMPLOYMENT RESTRICTIONS AMENDMENTS

General Description:
This bill modifies provisions of the Post-employment Restrictions Act.

Highlighted Provisions:
This bill:

    • defines terms;
    • prohibits an employer and an employee from entering into a post-employment restrictive covenant if the employer’s primary business is news media; and
    • makes technical and conforming changes.

Definitions:

(a) “News media” means a printed, photographic, electromagnetic, or electronic means of communication that is used to disseminate news to the general public.

(b) “News media” includes a newspaper, magazine, press association, news agency, wire service, radio station, television station or television network, that is used to disseminate news to the general public.

Amendment:

“An employer and an employee may not enter into a post-employment restrictive covenant if the employer’s primary business is news media.”
